What an Initial Assessment Should Decide
A good initial assessment should not just produce a score. It should help decide the right route for the child.
- Foundation 11+ group: for pupils who need stronger Maths, English or vocabulary foundations first.
- Standard Year 5 11+ programme: for pupils ready for structured weekly preparation.
- Accelerated grammar route: for pupils already working strongly and ready for more demanding timed work.
- Extra Maths or English support: for pupils who need targeted subject support before full 11+ work.
Parent Action Plan
- Write down your preferred grammar schools and the likely assessment route.
- Complete the checklist honestly, especially timing, vocabulary and confidence.
- Book a readiness assessment so the next step is based on evidence, not guesswork.
