What GL-style preparation includes
Many grammar school routes use GL Assessment or GL-style papers. Preparation usually needs a balance of 11+ Maths, English, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, multiple-choice technique, timing and careful checking.
The best preparation does not rely only on paper repetition. Pupils need teaching, topic diagnosis and correction work so mistakes become useful evidence.

Current and transition routes
GL remains important for many pupils across England, including current candidates in areas where changes have not yet taken effect. Where areas are moving towards FSCE or school-specific formats, preparation should be matched to the child's entry year.
Coach Dean Tutoring helps parents avoid confusion by separating current GL needs from future curriculum-led preparation.
