This safeguarding page explains the principles used to help protect pupils who receive online tutoring from Coach Dean Tutoring.

Safeguarding principles
The welfare of the child is the first priority. All pupils should be treated with respect and should be able to learn in an environment that is calm, appropriate and safe.
Coach Dean Tutoring recognises that children may have different needs, confidence levels, learning profiles and vulnerabilities. Parents are encouraged to share relevant information that may help lessons be delivered safely and appropriately.

Online lesson expectations
Online lessons should take place in a suitable learning space, with a parent or carer aware that the session is happening. Pupils should use an appropriate device, attend on time and keep communication focused on learning.
For younger pupils, a parent or responsible adult should be nearby. For older pupils, parents should still know when lessons take place and how communication will be handled.

Communication with pupils and parents
Communication about bookings, progress, payment and lesson arrangements should normally go through the parent or carer.
If direct learning-related communication with an older pupil is agreed, it should be limited to tutoring matters, appropriate in tone and transparent to the parent.

Concerns and reporting
Parents should raise any concern about communication, behaviour, lesson conduct or pupil wellbeing as soon as possible.
If there is an immediate risk of harm to a child, parents should contact emergency services or the relevant local safeguarding authority. If a concern arises during tutoring, Coach Dean Tutoring will take it seriously and respond in a way that prioritises the child's welfare.
Checks, training and review
Coach Dean has an Enhanced DBS and safeguarding training. Parents may ask about safeguarding arrangements before lessons begin.
The lesson platform is confirmed with parents before lessons start, and any relevant insurance or business arrangements can be confirmed where applicable. This safeguarding page is reviewed as the tutoring service develops, especially if group lessons, additional tutors or a learning platform are introduced.
